brysonI would like to introduce myself. My name is Bryson Bumstead, and I was born and raised in Midland; I have been very active in our community with 15 years volunteering for local minor and junior hockey, minor baseball, inline hockey and minor lacrosse. I am now actively involved with the Midland Civitan Club.
Growing up, I have been involved in the construction trade, as my dad, brother, and cousin are all licensed plumbers. As much as I tried to avoid that route, it was inevitable that I became licensed as well. I have seen new home construction as well as home renovations and worked closely with other tradespersons. I have always had the attitude that the home I was working on is the home that my family and I would live in and want nothing overlooked or surpassed because purchasing a home is the biggest investment an individual or family will make. After twenty years of being in the family trade, I felt it was time for a career change and took on a new role in the manufacturing industry. I then found myself only working a 40 hour week. What would I do with all this extra time on my hands? I had always wanted to continue my education in a field that I would enjoy and look at as an enjoyment rather than destiny. I took my time on this choice, investigating the supply and demand for all my interests. It was at this time my wife and I had purchased our second home and of course we had a home inspection done. I remember that day as I walked around with our Home Inspector that this was what I’ve been looking for. The details of the building, from the foundation to the roof, and all that made it not just a building, but a home. I had finally found a trade that I could bring the full extent of my experience and skill set with me. I then left the manufacturing industry behind and took on the new role in the sales industry where I am currently employed at Home Depot as the Night Shift Supervisor in order to give me the opportunity to get the accreditation I needed. It has been an enjoyable experience and I have recently completed the Home Inspection Course through Carson & Dunlop Education Services at Georgian College in Barrie. This course consisted of ten modules over a course of two years.
